You don't have to stay stuck. Individual therapy at Skill Tree Counselling is a deeply personal process designed around who you are including your values, your wounds, and your goals.

Drawing on approaches like EMDR, DBT, and narrative therapy, I’ll help you break free from anxiety and fear, heal old wounds, and finally step into the life you were meant to live.

Primary Modalities

Gaming setup with a keyboard, game controller, wireless earbuds, a drink, a pair of headphones, and a mouse on a desk illuminated in blue and purple lighting.

Video game therapy is an innovative, evidence-based approach that incorporates gameplay into the therapeutic process. We explore the stories, characters, and challenges found in games and can uncover powerful insights about your inner world.

Scott C. Jones, MA, RCC, CCC - Q

Scott is a Master’s Degree-level psychotherapist and RCC. He is a certified member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counselors (BCACC). He has experience in private practice, and has also seen clients via the Red Cross and with Moving Forward Family Services in Surrey, BC.

Scott’s approach to healing is a blend of evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy along with traditional, psychodynamic talk therapy. Scott also strongly believes in the therapeutic potency of new media like video games and virtual-reality. He explores with clients the ways in which these new media can become narratives of empowerment.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Studio Art from Hamilton College in 1991, an MFA in Writing from Syracuse University in 1996, and his Master’s of Arts Counselling Program (MACP) from Yorkville University in 2026. He is from New York originally and relocated to Canada in 2010. Scott is a life-long meditation practitioner, dedicating an hour a day to rigorous self-exploration and personal inquiry. Scott has also dedicated himself to men’s work and the men’s healing communities.

Prior to establishing a career in mental health, Scott was a professional writer, television host, podcaster, and storyteller.

When Scott is not helping people create lives that they love, he spends time with his friends and family, continues his own personal men’s work journey, or playing video games, which he continues to love — probably more than he should.
